How Time Flies! The 4 Ds in 1977...

How time flies! These pictures of 1977 ( 33 years ago ) showed us as a young family when Singapore was still struggling to make itself known to the world.
D2 and Unk Dicko were then happy parents of 2 daughters, aged 6 and 1+. Wifey D2 had resigned from her job a few years earlier to devote herself fully to the childrens' upbringing. It was a HUGE decision on both our part that ultimately paid HUGE dividends.
She may have lost 5 solid years in government service. By any kind of reckoning that was a major sacrifice of her working track record.
But our 2 girls and the family as a whole gained a lifetime for that foundational investment in their early years.
We had Yin and Yang running in the family, with much love and laughter and fun during their growing up years.

This was to continue to adulthood.
And we see the same Yin and Yang balance running in their own families and children today.

The little girl next to me is a niece of my close buddy who captured this pic.
[ Dawn and Dora - 1977 ]
They both love singing very much! I had so much fun playing the guitar and the ukulele to accompany their
singing. Mummy joined in too.
WISHING ONE AND ALL A MERRY, MERRY X'MAS !
Ps: Unk Dicko will be away spreading the joy of Christmas, music and fun with his faithful Ukulele.
Until then, CHEERS!

Unk Dicko, memorable photos of the family album as the "memory aids"
on this blog with lag in time and space of the family, people, events and places. Its surreal to remember the walk down memory lanes. Its awesome!

Pls blog more on this theme to share with us and keep them for posterity.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.

Thanks James! Always a pleasure to rekindle sweet memories of the past. And blogging about them is an enjoyable sentimental journey.

Wishing you a GREAT year ahead too Andy! 2011 will be too "hot" a number at Sg Pools. Usually these "hot" numbers somehow will seldom do except burn a hole in your pocket.
If I receive some psychic msg from Paul the sotong regarding this...I'll let everyone know.
Cheers!

Maree,
We just had THE FAMILY Holiday we wanted so much to have...which included wee Jordy of course. He's simply incredible and absolutely amazing for a 2 yr old.
I haven't come across one like him yet in all my years.
Will blog about him !

ps: I just discovered that I still have that specially made light blue long pants I was wearing that day...with me.
Incredible material and tailoring! I had worn that same pants in many of my overseas trip as it comes with a 2 hidden waist liners...for keeping travelling cash.
The tailor shop used to be at Geylang.

Thanks Andrew.
You too. Take good care of your shins. I'd been kicked there many times, mostly unintentionally and recovered. One was particularly vicious done by someone with a hockey stick that was intentional..TWICE! Happened during a practice game. No shin pads or guards then. That bullying rascal nearly fractured my leg.The scars remain till now. Years ago.
I taught that ruffian a personal lesson on the same day and again a fortnight later...and he promised never to even think of bullying others again. He did not dare to break his promise...till today.
Keep playing.
Wishing you well and the very Best for the new Year.
