WUHAN departs Singapore...scene 8

After clearing Immigration, the Wuhan group waved and waved many times from the inside and we all did the same on the outside....until finally, with one last wave, they
moved off.
We waited a little longer and chatted.
Mr Goh, the OM of GSPS, was still wistfully looking inside.
Goodbye for now Mr Fu, Mdm Zhang, Mdm Khng and all you 25 boys and girls of Shui Guo Hu Primary School!
We will meet again someday!
We hope you all had had a wonderful and memorable time here in Singapore. And even though we are all separated by long distances, the flame of love, friendship and respect between us will be cherished and kept alive.

WUHAN departs Singapore...scene 7.

As the Wuhan pupils led by their teachers entered the departure gate...some could not hold back their choked emotions any longer...some tears flowed and there were wet eyes too among some parents. They must have loved the buddy so much and treated him or her as their own family member.
Little "Me" filed by in tears and I comforted her with the advice" Don't worry too much..you can both keep in touch through emails ...".

The depth of friendship knows no bounds....even with our young. And there is a saying that" parting is sweet sorrow ". If you ask the kids if they agree with this view, they'll probably say if you remove the word "sweet," then we'll agree.

Mini, overwhelmed by her emotions, was comforted by her loving mum.

This was the last group picture which I captured of the adult staff of both sides, just before the Wuhan group went to the gate labelled " Bon Voyage".

Another one for the album...!

Mrs Yip giving a loving hug to sweet little " Re" who was one of the impressive emcees at the Wuhan Performance.

WUHAN departs Singapore...scene 5.

At this point in time, it was still all smiles, all calm before the minor storm!
Some of the kids seemed resigned to fate...that is,..they realised they would physically be separated from their close friend and buddy till God knows when.

Getting ready for the final group picture just outside the departure gate.
I had to try a few different angles and the pics had to be taken quite fast as there was far too much human traffic near us.
So, some of the shots are not as sharp as expected but something is always better than nothing...that's why I included them here anyway.
I'm certain the kids and teachers will still appreciate them.

WUHAN departs Singapore...scene 3

This little girl went in search of her hosting Principal, Mrs Yip....to present her with a farewell red rosette. How sweet and thoughtful of her! Fortunately I was nearby to capture the touching moment!
Next, we can see Dennis hard at work at the counter. Then little Ms Zhang went forward as it was her turn.
[ I have an earlier post about her home in Wuhan...the 3 Generation family ].

She was one of the four emcees in the Combined Performance in Wuhan.

WUHAN departs Singapore...scene 2

This was the orderly and efficient scene at the check-in counter . The kids were quite independent and able to do many things themselves...like filling in forms. That helped a lot.

WUHAN departs Singapore...scene 1.

The group from Wuhan met at Terminal 1 Changi Airport at 6 am on Sunday morning, July 13. Their flight home from S'pore to China was CZ 352 departing at 8 am. I noticed there was a big group of hosting families, GSPS staff and the kids themselves pushing trolleys ladened with their luggage, bags and more bags. Dennis, Jessica and Melissa were busy at the check-in counter assisting with and ensuring hassle-free check-in. Mr Fu, Mdm Zhang and Mdm Khng were
also busy with their kids' passports, forms, and baggage tags.
The check-in was really orderly, efficient and smooth. No problems whatsoever.
There was time by many hosting families for picture-taking.
Here we were, D2 and myself, with young Liu and his host family.
